(AmericanProsperity.com) – While the Super Bowl took center stage over the weekend, Iowa was getting ready for today’s contested and heated Democratic Caucus. President Trump said that Bernie Sanders (D-VT) is a communist, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) was questioned about sending an African-American teen to jail for life, and a new poll suggests that Wisconsin voters are warming to Trump.
Trump Labels Sanders a Communist
If you’re wondering what nicknames Trump is going to label Democrats with, then you don’t have to wait any longer. Every year before the Super Bowl, the president shares his perspective on what’s going on in the country with the network carrying the big game.
Fox News host Sean Hannity said to Trump, “I’m just going to throw out a name, whatever comes to your mind.” Trump called former Vice-President Joe Biden “sleepy Joe,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is a “fairy tale,” and he called Michael Bloomberg “little.”
However, it was Sanders that made the headlines when Trump called him a communist, referring to the honeymoon Sanders and his wife, Jane, took in Moscow.
Sanders is a self-proclaimed Democratic Socialist and his policies lean to the far-left of mainstream liberals in the Democratic party.
Klobuchar Questioned Hard About Prosecuting Teen Who was Jailed for Life
“That’s not my record,” Sen. Amy Klobuchar said of allegations last fall at one of the debates that she was not committed to racial justice.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Klobuchar served as the top prosecutor in Hennepin County, MN. In 2002, an 11-year-old girl was murdered by a stray bullet at her dining room table while doing homework.
The case was mired in inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and allegations that police performed a sloppy investigation and ignored or railroaded minority suspects.
One day before the Iowa caucus, Klobuchar was questioned on Fox News Sunday about new evidence that could show she may have wrongly jailed a teen to a lifetime sentence.
She was adamant that if new evidence has come to light, it should be immediately considered by the courts.
Wisconsin Voters May Be Warming to Trump
A new poll by Marquette University suggests that voters in Wisconsin are warming up to Trump. In 2016, Trump beat Hillary Clinton by only 22,000 votes — that’s the second smallest margin of victory of any state that voted for Trump in 2016.
If Trump wins Wisconsin again, it makes it much harder for a Democratic candidate in the general election to defeat him.
According to the poll, 48% gave Trump a positive job-approval rating, that’s up 4 points since January 2019.
In a one-on-one matchup, only Biden beats Trump. However, it’s a statistical tie in the margin of error and there is a long way to go in deciding the Democratic nominee who will face Trump.
Regarding impeachment and removal, 49% favor acquittal and 44% prefer Trump to be removed from office.
Political science professor and pollster Charles Franklin said, “We stand right at the pivot point as the state that could push one candidate or the other across the Electoral College finish line. His job approval has inched up over the course of the last 12 months.”
