(AmericanProsperity.com) – On Wednesday, a federal appeals court handed Trump a significant victory in the fight against sanctuary states and cities.
The Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York ruled that the Trump administration can deny grant money to any sanctuary jurisdiction who refuses to cooperate with federal immigration officials and shield illegal immigrants from deportation.
The Second Circuit just upheld another policy I created as AG: The federal gov can deny certain dollars from sanctuary jurisdictions that help illegal aliens break the law. My record is clear & I'll keep fighting illegal immigration as AL's next Senator! https://t.co/WEktBbyJb9

In 2017, a lower court stopped the administration from withholding over $250 million a year to New York and local crime organizations. The court ruled in agreement with previous Supreme Court rulings that the federal government has “broad” and “Preeminent” power of immigration policy. This meant that state and local jurisdictions must comply with requests from federal immigration officials.
President Trump recently called on Congress to pass laws that victims of crimes by illegal immigrants can use to sue sanctuary states and cities.
