(AmericanProsperity.com) – On Thursday, President Trump is expected to sign a “Buy American” executive order. It’ll require medical supplies and pharmaceuticals to be made in the United States in response to the coronavirus outbreak. According to White House trade policy adviser Peter Navarro, the US is currently too dependent on foreign countries to supply the medical community with face masks, goggles, and prescription drugs.
Navarro said emergency funds authorized by Congress last week could be used to open a facility in Virginia, that’ll manufacture and distribute medical supplies quicker and more cost-efficiently. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) agrees with the executive order.
On Twitter, Rubio posted his concern about the short-term opportunities for business and long-term dangers for Americans.
Critics have no idea how much I wish #Covid_19 would have proven wrong our warning last year that our pharmaceutical & medical tech trade relationship with #China provides short-term opportunities for U.S. businesses but long-term dangers for our people:https://t.co/y3YJ6MzALk

Face masks are, arguably, the most-needed item needing replenishing at this time. According to Becker’s Hospital Review, healthcare providers are experiencing dwindling supplies of the proper face masks to protect healthcare workers from COVID-19.
