(AmericanProsperity.com) – In his flurry of passing executive orders before leaving office, President Donald Trump moved to protect Americans. Specifically, to protect us from “overcriminalization” from the “thicket of requirements” that federal laws and regulations often create.
On Monday, January 18, President Trump issued the executive order focusing on regulatory reform to “improve transparency” when it comes to the plethora of regulations Americans must follow. This move alleviates the burden many citizens face as they try and wade through our nation’s laws.
The Epoch Times shared more of the heart behind the order:
“Federal criminal law should be clearly written so that all Americans can understand what is prohibited and act accordingly,” Trump wrote.

Trump encourages administrative and civil punishments, rather than criminal enforcement, when appropriate. Jim O’Neill, CEO of SENS Research Foundation, expressed his appreciation for the executive order on Twitter:
Trump issues a very welcome order to reduce overcriminalization.
Americans should have "notice of potential criminal liability for violations of regulations" and criminal enforcement should focus on "the most culpable individuals." https://t.co/CaKpXrJxDp

Even as his first term in the White House comes to an end, President Trump is keeping his promise to reduce regulations and lessen the everyday burdens on Americans.
