(AmericanProsperity.com) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin were recently working on an agreement to provide emergency aid to those affected by the coronavirus outbreak. Democrats attempted to add additional benefits to safety net programs such as food stamps, unemployment insurance, and temporary sick leave. However, there are disagreements about passing such measures.
As the bill stands, President Trump said he does not agree with Pelosi’s plan. He accused Democrats of trying to “get some of the goodies” that they haven’t been able to get for 25 years in the bill. The president isn’t the only one who has a problem with the Democrats trying to take advantage of a crisis to get their partisan objectives met:
Speaker Pelosi dropped a totally partisan coronavirus bill at the eleventh hour and snuck in provisions that have nothing to do with #COVIDー19.

It’ll be interesting to see if the two sides of Congress can agree on a clean package.
Pelosi said that the bill would be introduced on the floor Thursday afternoon or evening and passed along to the Senate whether or not she gets support from Republicans. The House is supposed to be on a week-long recess next week. Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has canceled the Senate’s recess to further deliberate on the coronavirus response.
It’s going to be an interesting week, and we’re here to keep you up to date as details come to light.
