(AmericanProsperity.com) – Saying it’s a symbol for small businesses across the country, Atilis Gym in southern New Jersey vowed a big reopening on Friday after the state health department closed them down on Thursday morning. The gym opened its doors for the first time since mid-March on Monday. This was done in defiance of the governor’s executive order, which required the closure of all nonessential businesses to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
On Wednesday, the owners of the business received a summons for violating the governor’s order. Lawyer Jim Mermigis is representing the gym and said he’s filing an injunction to declare the governor’s executive order unconstitutional. He also promised civil rights lawsuits would be filed soon as well.
The owners of the gym are practicing safe social distancing, require masks, and only allow 20% capacity in the gym at one time. On Fox & Friends Monday morning, the owners said their requirements were more stringent than the big-box retailers and enough was enough. They said if they don’t open the business, they’ll lose it.
