(AmericanProsperity.com) – Lawmakers barely passed a stimulus bill before 2020 ended, but they pulled it off. As a result, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) now has its hands full getting the $600-per-person payments into the hands of eligible Americans.
According to data provided by the Treasury Department, the IRS has issued $112 billion of the predicted $164 billion direct payments as of Tuesday, January 5. Most payments were made to accounts associated with 2019 tax refunds or the information provided during the first stimulus bill. However, many of those accounts moved or are now inactive, making it difficult to ensure every American will get what was promised.
In addition, some tax preparation companies, like H&R Block, have been sent the stimulus payments that they, in turn, need to issue to their clients. All of this money movement has caused confusion for many, but it also brings a glimpse of relief for others.
Representative Marc Veasey (D-TX) shared how to check where your stimulus payment is:

As 2021 begins, many hard-working Americans rely on this latest payment to make ends meet or even keep their business running as they look forward to the end of the coronavirus pandemic. Hopefully, the IRS can work out the kinks in the distribution as quickly as possible.
