(AmericanProsperity.com) – As the potential for a Democrat in the White House in January looms over Americans, the Progressive party seeks to strategically fill positions of power all across the government. Democrats tapped current Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) as the speaker for the 117th US Congress.
On Wednesday, November 18, Democrats held a virtual, secret vote to nominate Pelosi for the position. However, she must wait to be confirmed until the entire House of Representatives convenes on January 3, 2021. Even then, she must win the majority of votes in order to be installed again as Speaker.
Representative Debbie Dingell (D-MI) congratulated Pelosi and other top Democrats on their nominations:
Congrats @SpeakerPelosi @LeaderHoyer & @WhipClyburn on your reelections to lead the House in the new Congress! I look forward to working with you on #COVID relief for families, expanding access to health care coverage, & building a clean energy economy for our children.

The GOP will put forward House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to challenge Pelosi, although the majority party usually wins and the Democrats still have the majority.
As Americans still await certification of the presidential election results, we can begin to get a picture of where other powerful lawmakers will end up. While the Democrats did lose many seats in the House, which narrowed their majority, it’s likely they’ll still be led by Pelosi.
