FBI Exposed in Major Assault Case

FBI Exposed in Major Assault Case

(AmericanProsperity.com) – In 2018, the now-disgraced sports physician Larry Nassar was sentenced to life in prison. New revelations show he sexually abused over 265 women and girls during his career as a physician working with our nation’s top female gymnasts. However, a newly-released watchdog report shows that the FBI knew about the abuse years before his conviction and did nothing.

On Wednesday, July 14, the Inspector General at the Department of Justice (DOJ) released a report detailing how the FBI failed to respond with the “utmost seriousness and urgency” that the situation demanded. The report revealed how the FBI’s Indianapolis office was told of the allegations against Nassar in July of 2015. But, the FBI did not take action until another report was filed months later in Los Angeles.

During the time the FBI knew about the abuse and failed to act, Nassar assaulted somewhere between 70 and 120 young female athletes. Jessica Howard, one of Nassar’s victims, spoke with CBS News about the newly-released report, pointing out that it wasn’t solely a failure of FBI policies, but people choosing not to act:

Howard believes criminal charges should be brought against the agents who did not investigate the first Indianapolis report, and hopes a special prosecutor and the DOJ will join in the investigation. She also highlighted how the FBI is one of the most trusted institutions in our nation, but now she deeply questions it after this massive exposure. Hopefully, the hundreds of women and girls who suffered at the hands of Nassar can continue to heal, even after this horrific and disappointing news.
