Dozens of Officers Attacked During Philadelphia Riots

(AmericanProsperity.com) – On Monday, October 26, police were called to the Cobbs Creek neighborhood in West Philadelphia. During the altercation, police shot and killed Walter Wallace Jr., a black man who was wielding a knife and approaching them. Riots and looting erupted in response to his death.

The Officer Involved Shooting Investigation (OISI) Unit of the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) will conduct the investigation of Wallace’s death. Mayor Jim Kenney and Commissioner Danielle Outlaw released a joint statement, promising to address the “many unanswered questions” with a “speedy and transparent resolution.”

Even with the affirmation that the PPD will conduct a thorough investigation, riots and looting occurred.

Throughout the night, rioters injured 30 officers and vandalized 5 police vehicles and 1 fire department vehicle. Over 30 people were arrested for looting and throwing objects at officers, some of which is depicted below:

Philadelphia is mourning the loss of one of its citizens. But, the riots and looting that have risen up only bring more pain and destruction to the hurting city. Hopefully, the results of the investigation will bring much-needed closure to those affected by this event.
